Health Insurance & Healthcare Services
Health Insurance Requirements
If you are an international student or researcher who is visiting, studying, or working at Tel Aviv University (TAU), you are required to have health insurance during the entire duration of your stay.
While some of Lowy International School’s programs include health insurance within the program tuition fees, this is not the case for all programs. Please find your relevant type of program to see the insurance information most accurate for you.
Those of you who are not provided health insurance by Lowy International are required to purchase health insurance independently. The recommendation is to obtain insurance from a local insurance company which is accustomed to working with local healthcare providers.
The Benefits of Health Insurance
Having health insurance allows you to access medical care during your time with us, including if there is ever an emergency. Learn more about health insurance in Israel, and/or visit our emergency care instructions webpage for steps to take if you are facing an emergency health situation.
For those with independent health insurance coverage, please visit your insurer’s webpage for more information on your plan.
For those of you whose tuition includes health insurance, the insurance coverage is provided by the insurance company PassportCard and healthcare provider Kupat Holim Clalit. Review coverage information, including the full policy, and instructions on how to use your PassportCard insurance policy.

Health Insurance FAQ for International Students and Researchers
Do I need health insurance to study in Israel?
Yes. Every international student, researcher, and visitor at Tel Aviv University is required to hold valid health insurance for the entire duration of their stay.
Is health insurance included in my tuition?
It depends on your program. Some Lowy International School programs include health insurance within the tuition fees; others do not. Choose your program type above — undergraduate, MA, study abroad, exchange, visiting scholars, or research students — to see what applies to you.
Who provides the insurance, and what does it cover?
For programs where insurance is included in tuition, coverage is provided by the insurer PassportCard with Kupat Holim Clalit as the healthcare provider. You can review the coverage information and full policy and how to use your PassportCard policy.
What if my program doesn't include insurance?
You will need to purchase health insurance independently. We recommend a local insurer that is used to working with Israeli healthcare providers.
