Proof of English Proficiency

All applicants applying to TAU International English-medium programs who are from non-English speaking countries or are non-native speakers of English must provide proof of English proficiency. Applicants can do so in one of the following ways:
- By submitting an official and original test scores for IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge exams. The English proficiency tests scores must show that the applicant is at the B2 level on the CEFR:
- IELTS Academic: 6.5, all test components need to be in the B2 range
- We don't accept IELTS General Training
- We now accept the IELTS Academic Online Test
- TOEFL (paper): 550 */ TOELF iBT (internet and home edition): 79**, all test components need to be in the B2 range
- We don't accept TOEFL ITP
- We don't accept TOEFL Essentials
- Cambridge B2 First / C1 Advanced/ C2 Proficiency - Passing grade (A, B or C).
- IELTS Academic: 6.5, all test components need to be in the B2 range
By submitting an official and original letter written by an English language expert from a recognized academic institution testifying that the applicant is at the B2 level or higher on the CEFR.
Please note that applicants who have successfully completed or are currently enrolled in a degree in an English-speaking program (undergraduate or graduate) at a recognized academic institution in an English- speaking country or a non English-speaking country will not be required to submit English proficiency test scores. Rather, the applicant must provide an official and original letter from the institution testifying that the program was taught exclusively in English and, that you have successfully completed he program.
Applicants should be aware that departments may set stricter proficiency criteria and in these cases the additional proficiency criteria will be published for prospective students on the departmental web pages.
TAU International Advanced English Program
If an applicant is at the B1+ level on the CEFR or if one or more of the 4 components (reading, writing, listening and speaking) is low, s/he may take the TAU International Intensive Advanced English Summer program to improve his/her language skills. Upon completion of the summer program, the applicant's proficiency level will be reassessed prior to the start of the academic program.
