Academic Staff Exchange

Erasmus+ Mobility for Academic Staff

The Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Program is an EU initiative that funds travel of academic staff at leading universities throughout Europe. This is an extensive, unique, and worthwhile opportunity to expand professional skills while adding an international element. The program aims to expose employees to different organizational cultures, meet new colleagues from across Europe and beyond while equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed in a dynamically changing society.

In recent years, Tel Aviv University has invested considerable resources and efforts to promote international academic collaborations. As part of these collaborations, the University has expanded the Erasmus+ framework with many European institutions.

Under the program, faculty members can travel to partner universities and receive funding for an intensive teaching or training period at the university. While encouraging faculty members to travel abroad under the Erasmus+ framework, TAU also encourages every faculty member to invite their European colleagues to the university as part of this program. This is a great opportunity to expose the students to innovative teaching methods, relevant international scholars and content that could not have available within the domestic teaching capacities alone.

Activities academic staff can engage in:

  • Teaching: any teaching staff at a higher education institution may travel to teach at a partner higher education institution abroad. Staff mobility for teaching can be in any study field.
  • Training: any staff member at a higher education institution may take part in a training activity abroad that is relevant to their day-to-day work. It may take the form of training events (excluding conferences) or job shadowing and observation periods.

A staff mobility period can combine both teaching and training.

The mobility period is usually 7-14 days. For teaching mobility, 8 hours per week of teaching is required.

The term of mobility is indicated in the inter-institutional agreement between TAU and the partner university.

TAU academic staff may travel to the partner universities and invite staff members from there.
