Credits Accepted, Dreams Realized: Transferring to TAU Made Easy
Finding academic home in Israel
Ariella Roitman transferred to BA in Management and Liberal Arts in 2022, after completing two years at the George Washington University in the United States. She had previously been to Israel a few times on short trips, but it was a two-month summer program that cemented her wish to do the rest of her undergraduate degree in Israel.
Roitman’s transition was seamless—thanks to guidance of Louise Hyatt, the program director. Some of Roitman’s credits from her American university were accepted toward TAU’s undergraduate degree:
“In the U.S., the first year is broad, similar to the core courses at TAU. I took classes on a lot of different things, like economics, international affairs, and communication, so I got credits for those.”
The credit transfer process at TAU is straightforward and designed to help students integrate smoothly.
All you need to do is send your most recent grade transcript to the program coordinator who will assess your eligibility and respond to you in a matter of days.
Programs available for transfer students:
BA in Management and Liberal Arts and BA in Liberal Arts
Eligibility criteria:
- The institution is recognized by TAU

Now Roitman is in her final year, on track to receive her BA degree in Management with two additional majors, in Psychology and Digital Culture and Communication. Despite the challenges that October 7 brought for students in Israel, she is happy with her decision and feels rewarded:
"The transfer has helped me explore different fields like management, psychology, and marketing, which ties well into my career aspirations."
Roitman has always been very interested in communications and marketing. Her hands-on experience includes an internship at a hostel company founded by Israelis where she worked on the branding team, handling visual graphics for social media.
"Right now, I'm working for a sandal company, assisting with a rebranding project alongside a marketing professional."
Her Psychology major has proved very useful for building marketing campaigns: “Psychology and marketing tie in together very well,” she says. Courses from the Digital Communication track, like Principles of Persuasion and Consciousness and the Electronic Mind, have also been insightful and informative.
One of the highlights of the BA program for Roitman has been the Conscious Entrepreneurship course that focused on the ways major companies go beyond business, adding value for the society as a whole.
"For the second half of the Conscious Entrepreneurship course, we had to create our own conscious company. With my group, we created a coffee company mindful of health and technology. The idea is to track health using a smartwatch and an AI questionnaire to create a personalized menu based on your daily needs."
What Roitman enjoys the most about studying at Tel Aviv University is the group’s small size and personalized approach: “We are free to express our concerns and opinions and we are being heard.”
Another unique aspect of the program is the events organized specifically for its students, such as company tours, meetings with industry experts, social gatherings, and trips. Last year, for example, BA in Management and Liberal Arts students went on a vineyard tour near Jerusalem, adding a special touch to their academic experience.
Having lived the first year in the TAU dorms, Roitman is now renting a place with her two friends in central Tel Aviv. “It’s really fun,” she says.
"I love the beach, the culture of Tel Aviv, the food, and the fact that there's always something to do. I also like that I can go around by myself and feel safe. I appreciate the independence here."
