Research Excellence Program for Asia (RExPA)

Tel Aviv University invites exceptional young researchers from Asia to join us for 8 weeks in the in Summer 2026 for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
This uniquely tailored program is designed to strengthen your research skills, significantly bolster your CV, and serve as a pathway for future graduate/postgraduate studies, whether at TAU or around the globe.
For its research part, RExPA relies on the highly sought-after TAU Summer Research Program and offers placements in the same labs and research projects in STEM, Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. You can find the full list of available labs under the links below:

During the application process, you will have the opportunity to select up to 5 labs/projects from our list based on your background, research interests, and skills. We will then match you with one of our labs and connect you with our esteemed professors.
So, no need to worry about that part—just be prepared to impress your future supervisor in an online interview! Upon arrival in Tel Aviv, you will engage in a genuine research project under the guidance of a distinguished professor as part of the larger Summer Research Program cohort.
On top of that, RExPA participants will benefit from insightful leadership sessions with TAU senior management, immerse themselves in the vibrant cultural life of Tel Aviv, and enjoy extensive networking opportunities with international and Israeli students and early-career researchers.
Program dates: June 3 – July 30, 2026 (8 weeks)

Seats in the RExPA are offered exclusively to students of TAU’s select partner institutions in China, India, Republic of Korea, and Singapore.
You must be nominated by your academic supervisor or otherwise by your home institution to participate in RExPA.
Once you are nominated by your home institution, you will have to take the following steps:
- Check your mailbox for an email from Tel Aviv University with an invitation to complete and submit your online application
- Complete and submit an online application form on our Portal by March 15, 2026 at the latest,
- Attach all required documents, including
- Travel passport,
- Transcripts from all higher education institutions attended
- A copy of any diplomas received (all must be in English),
- Your CV,
- A reference letter from your current research supervisor or current degree program head,
- Proof of English proficiency as required (see Eligibility & Requirements tab)
- Attach all required documents, including
- Pay a non-refundable application processing fee of $60 USD
- Attend one or more placement interviews with your potential PIs at TAU
- Receive a letter of invitation and apply for a visa to a Consulate of Israel
- Plan your trip to arrive in Israel by June 3, 2026 (Arrival date).
Very important! We can’t provide accommodation to students arriving before Arrival Date (even for one night you’ll have to go to a hotel at your own expenses), and the next few days will feature orientation meetings that are crucial for your experience in Tel Aviv.
It is highly recommended to arrive on the Arrival date. If there are no flights, or you can’t arrive on the Arrival date due to any other reason, please inform the program coordinator via email as soon as possible – we will do our best to offer you a tailored solution.
