Some international students choose to live off-campus either in the center of the city or in the greater Tel Aviv area (called the “Gush Dan”). In the Gush Dan, sharing a standard apartment with 1-2 roommates may cost more or the same as the dorms. In the central Tel Aviv area, housing can be very expensive and quite difficult to secure. Students are advised to start their search at least several weeks prior to arrival. In addition, students should be advised that commuting times in the area can be long. While living close to campus or in central Tel Aviv may cost more, it will reduce the amount of time you spend in traffic each day.
TAU International does not assist or get involved with independent housing for students. However, we do provide some resources and advice in a pre-arrival handbook that you will receive after you are confirmed in your program.
