Programs with External Sources of Funding
The Ministry of Regional Cooperation hereby announces a Call for proposals for a variety of academic projects as well as scholarships to students from countries in the region and the Palestinian Authority who are studying or have been accepted for studies at institutions of higher education in Israel for the next academic year. The aim is to assist in alleviating some of the barriers that impede the studies of those students.

Israel-France MAIMONID
The Scientific and University Cooperation Service of the French Institute of Israel (Embassy of France in Israel) is pleased to announce the launch of the CHP Maimonides 2025-2026 call for projects.
The deadline for submission of projects is 11 March 2024.
The research themes that will be funded in 2025-2026 are:
- Food and Nutrition Security the development of innovative technologies for food production, such as lamer proteins and alternative proteins, as well as the development of technologies for advanced food production methods to ensure a healthy and balanced diet for all.
- Management of Natural Resources and Marine Ecosystems: use of innovative techniques for economic development around the sea: seawater desalination, energy production, conservation, depollution, marine agriculture (fish, seafood, algae).
- Health: innovative cell therapies, bioactive proteins and nucleic acid-based bioactive agents.
- Engineering and Digital Technology: development of new materials for electronic applications.

Indo-Israel S&T Agreement
The agreement provides for strengthening the development of scientific cooperation between Israeli and Indo researchers and creation of bilateral research networks.
PRIMA 2023 program
The program is geared towards R&D in water management and farming systems in the Mediterranean region, supported by EU Horizon.
M-ERA.NET 2024 EU-funded network
It is a network of coordinated R&D programs between EU member states and several other partner countries in the field of material technology.
Israel-Taiwan 2024/2025 program
The program provides for strengthening the development of scientific cooperation between Israeli and French researchers and the creation of bilateral research networks, with a focus on research in the fields of Information Security and Medical Bio-Engineering. Sponsored by MOST.
U.S.-Israel Binational Science Foundation (BSF)
Partner country: United States
The BSF research grant program awards grants to joint researches by U.S. and Israeli researchers for both the creation of quality research and the act of collaboration itself by nationals from both countries. While the scope of the program is likely outside of “seed funding” range, its extent crosses a great number of scientific fields, and as such is still a significant contender for a primary organization to interface with when it comes to Joint Collaboration.
British Council in Israel
Partner country: United Kingdom
Multiple programs offered for fostering bilateral relations and connecting British and Israeli researchers and further reinforced by bodies such as the UK-Israel Science Council launched for the mutual promotion of both countries as scientific superpowers. The scope of some programs is more humble and focuses bilateral collaboration, making them particularly lucrative for the sake of Joint Collaboration to be promoted by TAU. The British Council additionally sponsors scholarships for Israeli students of various fields and backgrounds.
GIF – The German Israeli Foundation
Partner country: Germany
GIF promotes first and foremost the scientific ties between Germany and Israel, as an organization dedicated to joint collaboration between the countries in all steps of the research process. The programs are within the scope of “seed funding” with the intent of promoting young researchers and early career scientists, while also allowing greater funding and flexibility for veteran researchers.

DAAD – German Academic Exchange Service
Partner country: Germany
DAAD has an information center in Israel and it is limited in scope to promoting opportunities for Israeli students and researchers to study in Germany
BARD – Competitive program focused on strategic and applied agricultural research
Partner country: the USA
The programs are open to US and Israeli research scientists, graduate students, and postdocs.
