Independently Purchasing Health Insurance

While some TAU International programs have health insurance included in the tuition payment, please note that this is not the case for all programs.

Those of you who are not provided health insurance by Lowy International, are required to purchase health insurance independently.

Please also note that a valid medical insurance policy is mandatory for receiving a student visa.

While there are many health insurance providers in Israel, and we encourage you to do your own market research, we can suggest a few companies that we know to provide services in English:

 

 PassportCard Insurance Agency (Clalit Healthcare Provider)

 

This insurance company works with the healthcare provider Kupat Holim Clalit. There is a Clalit clinic right on TAU’s campus (near the Sourasky Library).

Current students are welcome to join Lowy’s group policy with PassportCard, intended for active international students. Coverage information can be found here.

Costs: 

  • For students under the age of 40, the cost is 11.82 ILS / approx. 3.9 USD per day
  • For students aged 41-65, the cost is 13.15 ILS / approx. 4 USD per day
  • For students over the age of 65, the cost is 14.90 ILS / approx. 4.92 USD per day

Payment:

  • Payments will be made to the Lowy International School.
  • Kindly note that payment in installments is not available.
  • Students enrolled through Lowy will be charged in USD via the student portal, while research students without a portal account will be charged in ILS via ePay system.

 Harel Yedidim Insurance Agency (Clalit Healthcare Provider)

 

This agency works directly with Harel Insurance Company and the healthcare provider is Kupat Holim Clalit.

You are welcome to find more information on their website.

Their Prestige Plan allows for continual coverage for the duration of your time in Israel and it is recommended for those staying longer than one year.

There is also a Clalit clinic right on TAU’s campus (near the Sourasky Library).

 Menora Mivtahim Insurance Company (Leumit Healthcare Provider)

 

This insurance company works with the healthcare provider Kupat Holim Leumit.

The closest Leumit clinic is about 25 minutes walking distance or 15 minutes by bus from the TAU campus.
