TAU–Thapar 3+2 Integrated Degree in Biotechnology OR Electrical Engineering
Program Overview
Tel Aviv University and Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology have established the '3+2' Integrated Degree Program with an opportunity for its students to earn two degrees (B-Tech from TIET, and MSc from TAU) in just 5 years!
The TAU–TIET collaboration offers TIET students the opportunity to conduct hands-on research under the guidance of top TAU professors, gain unique international experience in the vibrant city of Tel Aviv, the heart of the Start-Up Nation, enhance leadership skills through interactions with TAU senior management, and build networks with outstanding international students from around the world.
The 3+2 program has two tracks:
- Biotechnology (Life Sciences)
- Electrical Engineering (Engineering)
Availability of each track is subject to the year-to-year decision of both universities.
Curriculum
Years 1–3 (in India):
- Students follow their regular B.Tech / B.Eng curriculum, striving to achieve academic excellence (only the top 25% of the Life Sciences cohort and the top 5% of the Engineering cohort after 6 semesters will be eligible to apply)
- During Year 3 interested and qualifying students apply for the program and undergo a rigorous selection procedure
Year 4 (in Israel):
- Students are enrolled in TAU
- Students take graduate-level courses and do two lab rotations to identify their future research topic and academic supervisor;
- They also take extra courses that are credited towards their undergraduate degree at Thapar Institute
- At the end of year 4, Thapar Institute awards B.Tech / B.Eng degree to their students
Year 5 (in Israel):
- Students work in the labs and write a research thesis
- Upon successful completion of all TAU requirements, students are awarded an MSc degree by TAU; some students may prefer to extend their period of research studies at TAU for another year to have more time for lab research or for writing their thesis paper
Program Highlights
