We have an opening for a postdoc position in physical oceanography at Tel Aviv University, Israel. This is a collaborative project with Prof. Jin-Han Xie from Pekin University and Prof. Xiaolong Yu from Sun Yat-sen University, focused on understanding the fundamental processes governing the interactions between internal waves and ocean eddies with specific applications to the south China Sea.

The project includes:
- Designing and running realistic high-resolution numerical simulations using the Regional Ocean Model Simulator (ROMS).
- Developing mathematical models to quantify and explain energy pathways, with an emphasis on wave-mean flow interactions.
- The opportunity to join a research cruise in the South China Sea.
Candidacy Requirements:
- A PhD in physics/physical oceanography or a related field.
- A solid background in computer programming.
- A solid background in geophysical fluid dynamics.
The position guarantees funding for two years with a one-year extension depending on performance, and with an expected annual salary of 42,000$.
