IAS Lecture: How the Universe Became Smooth and Flat

The Universe Appears Remarkably Smooth and Flat, But Why?

The Institute of Advanced Studies invites you to the lecture by Professor Paul Steinhardt, from the Departments of Physics and Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton University.

Professor Steinhardt is visiting Tel Aviv University as part of the Lowy Distinguished Guest Professors series 2025–2026 and will speak at the Physics Department Colloquium

In his lecture, Prof Steinhardt will examine one of cosmology’s most profound questions, how the universe achieved its large-scale uniformity, and discuss whether the inflationary model truly resolves this mystery, or if alternative explanations are needed

When: December 28, 2025 | 14:00

Where: Shenkar Building, Melamed Hall (6)

Light refreshments will be served before the lecture.

The lecture will be conducted in English and is open to the public.
