Independently Purchasing Health Insurance

While some TAU International programs have health insurance included in the tuition payment, please note that this is not the case for all programs.

Those of you who are not provided health insurance by Lowy International, are required to purchase health insurance independently.

Please also note that a valid medical insurance is a mandatory part of receiving a student visa.

While there are many health insurance providers in Israel, and we encourage you to do your own market research, we can suggest a few companies which we know to have service in English:

1. “Harel Yedidim” Insurance Agency (Clalit Healthcare Provider)

This agency works directly with Harel Insurance Company and the healthcare provider is Kupat Holim “Clalit.”

You are welcome to find more information on their site or here.

Their “Prestige Plan” allows for continual coverage for the duration of your time in Israel and it is recommended for those staying longer than one year.

There is also a Clalit clinic right on TAU’s campus (near the Sourasky Library).

2. “Menora Mivtahim” Insurance Company (Leumit Healthcare Provider)

This insurance company works with healthcare provider Kupat Holim “Leumit;” the cost is approximately $2.1 per day.

The policy can be found here.

The closest Leumit clinic is about 25 minutes walking distance or 15 minutes by bus from the TAU campus.

Additional coverage:

If you wish to expand the basic coverage for an additional cost, Offek Operating Solutions can also offer coverage for pre-existing conditions, pregnancy, accidents and more.

You are welcome to view their brochures, below:

3. “Maccabi” Healthcare Provider

Healthcare provider Kupat Holim Maccabi also has a healthcare program offered to those who are not Israeli residents.

Please note that the minimum time period for insurance with Maccabi is 4 months.

See below the links to their website:

  • The Lowy International School is not responsible for healthcare services provided by any of the above companies.
  • Please note that insurance companies do not cover pre-existing conditions.
  • The policies of the above-mentioned companies cover COVID-19 treatment.
  • There are many more health insurance company options with English services – the ones listed above are ones that students/researchers we know have worked with before; you are welcome to do your own research and choose the option most suitable for you.
