Program Overview
The program is built around an array of courses designed to enhance knowledge about Jewish civilization as a world heritage—a unique phenomenon in world history that has significantly contributed to the development of neighboring civilizations through inclusive and connective dynamics.
The program offers a distinctive M.A. and Ph.D.-level framework at Tel Aviv University, which boasts the largest and most innovative scholarship in Jewish Studies and Archaeology of the Land of Israel, in collaboration with the Jewish Studies graduate program at Goethe University and Koret Center for Jewish Studies at the ANU Museum of the Jewish People.
The primary objective of this initiative is to nurture students' intellectual and social skills and develop their leadership potential in the field of Jewish Studies.
The program addresses the following topics, among others:
- Israel and the Diaspora;
- antisemitism and racism;
- particularities and commonalities of different Jewish communities;
- relationships and mutual influences that Judaism held and holds with neighboring civilizations;
- religiosity and secularity;
- West and East;
- Jewish languages;
- tradition and modernity;
- political thought and practice;
- forms of connectivity.
Program Highlights

Focus on history and contemporary era: Studies will focus on Judaism as a historical and present-day civilization that has been, and continues to be, a force for progressive ideas, innovation, and connectivity.

Training future Jewish scholars and leaders: Graduate students will be trained as future scholars in Jewish Studies, as educators, and as leaders of Jewish and non-Jewish social organizations.

Courses in English: Courses will be taught entirely in English and will be open to Israeli and non-Israeli, Jewish and non-Jewish individuals alike.

Innovative learning platforms: The program will capitalize on the most up-to-date technological platforms and develop new ones designed for blended learning. Students will study both digitally and in-person on partner campuses.
