Zoom out on TAUi Open Day 2022

Learn more about study options at TAUi through this recap of our Open Day

On February 1st and 2nd, 2022, Tel Aviv University International held its virtual Open Day event. Open Days are usually a perfect opportunity for the university to provide prospects with complete presentations on course and student life offerings, as well as supplement the meetings with interesting talks by faculty members.

After months of planning, the event launched to turnout success. More than 16,000 people showed up to hear about the vast variety of studying options at Tel Aviv University, spanning over 165 sessions. Tel Aviv University International’s programming included dozens of info sessions going over undergraduate, graduate, and short-term options taught entirely in English.

Viewers managed to get more information on life in Tel Aviv and a bit on how things work around here, through our local philosophy.

Litigating Learning

Beyond providing straightforward information to prospects, our coordinators got creative and developed interesting lectures to present and took advantage of the days to show our strengths as unique researchers. One such example was evident in the Parasol Foundation’s International LL.M. session, which took place midday on February 2nd.

Ronen Avraham, the program head of the International Law program, presented alongside a noteworthy alum, faculty member, and professor, Dr. Natalie Davidson.

It was valuable to highlight what the program really has to offer. The Parasol Foundation International LL.M. at Tel Aviv University Faculty of Law is a 10-month program that brings outstanding students from all over the world for a rigorous, highly-academic LL.M. degree. Students can choose a general course of study or may specialize in:

  • International Law & Human Rights

  • Law & Technology

  • Business Law

The rigorous academic curriculum is based on innovative approaches to legal theory, providing law students with analytical tools and skills to engage in serious academic research and practical insights. Classes explore contemporary challenges to the law that stem from the processes of globalization to specific courses on the Israeli legal and social systems, the complexities of the Middle East region, and the legal aspects of the Start-Up Nation. Parallel to receiving insights deeply rooted in the academic field, students will be provided opportunities to immerse themselves in the real world of legal practice, in Israel, through a variety of trips and law firm internships.

As the LL.M. program gives students the opportunity to specialize in International Law & Human Rights, the organizers of this event considered it to be critical to expose prospects to the chance to meet our lecturers. Dr. Natalie Davidson discussed one of her research projects, How Domestic Violence Became Torture in International Human Rights Law: A Socio-Legal Inquiry. Dr. Davidson’s lecture gave a glimpse of the academic content and enrichment that students will get to learn in the program.

The LL.M. program facilitates intercultural and international education and manages to foster a unique global community on campus. The mission of Parasol Foundation International LL.M. program corresponds with TAU International’s in the support provided for the diverse community by accomplishing its core purpose to serve the international population through research and hands-on action.

Other faculties also actively participated in this year's Open Day. For example, the Master of Disaster Management (M.DM) program invited Dr. Bruria Adini, Department Head, to give an overview of the M.DM. program. Afterwards, Dr. Moran Bodas & Gili Shenhar provided a mini-lecture on "Risk Communication in Times of Covid". The session continued was by Valerio Carafa (Italy) discussing his experience as a program alum and work as Emergency Operations Officer to Haiti (ISRAAID). Finally, there was a Q&A session with members of the virtual audience. Not only did prospects gain an idea about the enriching curriculum, but also get to opportunity to understand the direct pathways to success the graduate program may provide to those who are passionate about the field.
