The regulation of insulin secretion from pancreatic beta-cells plays a crucial role in maintaining normal blood glucose levels. Insufficient insulin secretion leads to the development of diabetes, a global health concern. Our research group is dedicated to investigating the crosstalk between beta-cells and the cells in their microenvironment, with the goal of understanding the establishment and maintenance of beta-cell function and mass in health and why they are lost in diabetes

About the position: 

The Landsman Lab invites highly qualified and motivated PhD candidates to join its cutting-edge research program to decipher the regulation of pancreatic beta-cell function and investigate the causes of diabetes. Our lab utilizes innovative techniques, including transgenic mouse systems, physiological and morphometric analysis, and molecular tools, to define cell-cell interactions within the pancreas.
