This two-year MSc program will take you to the forefront of biomedical engineering, integrating research from diverse fields. Immerse yourself in this innovative field and elevate your engineering expertise to the next level.
Program Overview
Biomedical engineering is one of the fastest-growing areas in industry and research. Although a relatively new field, it is firmly rooted in such established disciplines as mathematics, electronics, mechanics, physics, biology and physiology.
The Department of Biomedical Engineering is providing clinicians, both in Israel and abroad, with advanced tools for accurate and non-invasive diagnosis as well as improved therapeutic devices for attacking such problems as cardiac disease, the number one cause of death in the Western world.
Research at the Department is carried out across nine main areas:
- Biofluids: flow in the heart and blood vessels, respiratory system
- Biomechanics: structures and materials
- Numerical modeling: physiological systems
- Biomedical image processing
- Physiological signal processing
- Vision: psychophysics, models and algorithm
- Hearing: the middle ear
- Sensory communication: the auditory system
- Computational and systems biology
Life (and Disease) in a TAU Lab: The Global Connection Podcast
Hear from two TAU international biomed researchers: MSc student Emma Glickman and PhD candidate Neta Fibeesh. Along with Prof. Ben Maoz, the head of the MSc program, they discuss what it’s like to research at TAU and how they’re using stem cells and simulating mini-organs to advance understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s:
Program Highlights
- Interdisciplinary field that incorporates tissue engineering, biomedical devices, data science, and AI.
- There are more than 10 hospitals that are affiliated with Tel Aviv University, which allows us to bring the research to the clinic and vice versa very quickly.
- Direct Master's – PhD track: opportunity to transfer after a year of research.
