SAWA (سوا | צעד לפני כולם)

SAWA is a student support program operated by the Dean of Students to promote the academic success and well-being of Arabic-speaking students at Tel Aviv University. The program provides academic, personal, social, and emotional support throughout students’ studies, helping them strengthen their sense of belonging and successfully complete their degrees. 

Support includes personal guidance, assistance with academic and social challenges, study groups and individual tutoring, Hebrew and English language support, preparation for the first year of study, leadership and excellence programs, social and cultural activities, and liaison with academic faculties when needed. 

Hebrew Language Requirement for Arabic-Speaking Students 

Arabic-speaking students admitted to degree programs at Tel Aviv University are assigned a required Hebrew proficiency level, which is indicated in their admission letter and personal applicant portal. Students must attain the Hebrew exemption level by the end of their first academic year. 

Placement in Hebrew language courses is based on the YAEL Hebrew proficiency test. A score of 132 or above grants exemption from the Hebrew language requirement. Students who score below 132 are required to complete the appropriate Hebrew language courses.
