Combining quantitative assessment and system thinking with qualitative, social science based understanding of people and organizations, IE Applied conducts ground breaking work to solve problems and create a new environmental vision in myriad fields:
- Life Cycle Thinking and modeling for localizing LCA results,
- promoting servicizing in new markets and fields,
- creating innovative end-of-life infrastructure to support material efficiency,
- mobility electrification and Green ICT.
Our work is based on finding novel interdisciplinary methodologies to explore environmental, social and economic problems and questions. Our work aims to bridge the gap between academic rigor and policy formulation and implementation.

LCA-IAM models for buildings and new construction materials
A postdoctoral research position is available with focus area of buildings and new construction materials innovation in the context of climate change mitigation and reduced environmental impacts. We are seeking a researcher who can collaborate on national assessment of pathways for the buildings sector and scaleup potential of innovative construction materials.
The successful candidate will work closely with diverse research groups led by Professor Vered Blass from Tel Aviv University and with the ECE group at IIASA, Austria. Funding is available for 18 months. Extension might be possible based on performance and project development. The position requires spending time in Israel and Austria. A monthly stipend (tax-free) will be paid according to the Tel Aviv University postdoc stipend levels.
This position requires a strong modeling and programming background and familiarity with the energy-materials-building nexus.
- Relevant background includes industrial ecology, construction and building engineering, and energy management.
- Familiarity with methods such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Integrated Assessment Models (IAM), scenarios development, and programming in R and\or P Python is desired.
- Responsibilities of the applicant include developing national buildings model and modeling new construction materials in national scaleup.
- Publishing in peer-reviewed journals is also expected.
Interested candidates should send
- a cover letter;
- statement of research interests that includes recent accomplishments and how this position will help achieve your career objectives;
- current curriculum vitae;
- names of three possible references (please include email addresses and phone numbers).
Review of applications is ongoing and will continue until the position is filled.
Start date is ASAP.

Sustainability Life Cycle Assessment (SLCA) for emerging technologies, with focus area of carbon capture and removal (CDR) technologies.
We seek a researcher who can collaborate on SLCA efforts and apply new methods for evaluation of the projected impacts of the full-scale CDR technologies' development.
The successful candidate will work closely with a diverse research group led by Professor Vered Blass (TAU, IIASA). The responsibilities of the applicant include developing relevant assessment methods including SLCA farmwork with other measurement metrics. Contributing to project reports and publishing in peer-reviewed journals is expected.
Funding is available for up to 4 years, depending on performance and project development. The position requires spending time in Israel and Austria, however, there is flexibility in living location.
A monthly stipend (tax-free) will be paid according to the Tel Aviv University postdoc stipend levels.
This position requires a strong LCA background as well as familiarity with a variety of CDR technologies (marine, soil, and subsurface domains).
