Prof. Ronit Sagi-Eisenberg
Research work

Our laboratory focuses on the underlying mechanisms of neuroinflammation.

Ongoing projects in the Lab include:

  • Exploring the interplay between LRRK1 and LRRK2 and its role in Parkinson's disease;
  • Exploring the role mast cell exosomes in mediating neuroinflammation and elucidating the impact of aging;
  • Exploring the role of  MRGPRX2, a G protein coupled receptor that responds to multiple ligands, including neuropeptides, in mediating mast cell neuroinflammatory responses.

Position Type:
PhD
About the position:

The student will train towards their PhD under the frame of the Graduate school of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. Their research towards the PhD thesis will be conducted in my lab on the University campus.

The student will be using molecular and cell biology techniques (e.g. confocal microscopy) to study the underlying mechanisms of neuroinflammation, a major factor  in the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. More specifically, the focus will be on the role of mast cells, cells of the immune system that are best known for their role in allergy, but also play a key role in neuroinflammation.

A scholarship will be provided through the whole training period.

Candidacy Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor and Master degree grades 85  and above. Candidates who meet the criteria will be directed to the BRAVO program for excellent PhD students
  • High motivation
  • Background in Cell Biology

Note: You are invited to apply to the BRAVO PhD program for exceptional students. Admitted students are eligible for generous fellowships. Find out more about the program here
