About the position: 

For a new project in collaboration with industry, a new position is open: develop and numerical implementation of advanced algorithms for acoustic wave scattering, acoustic imaging, acoustic cloaking, and various forms of acoustic wave control, in real-time in two- and three-dimensional domains.

Candidacy Requirements: 

The candidate is expected to be well acquainted with two and three-dimensional acoustic and/or electromagnetic wave propagation theory, in particular scattering calculations and imaging, as well as to be able to realize the algorithms in numerical simulations.

 

Required Skills:

Specifically, knowledge and experience are sought in the following fields:

 

  • Target Echo Strength (TES) and/or Radar Cross Section (RCS) computations
  • Geometrical/Physical optics
  • Near Field imaging
  • Scientific Computation (Integral equation-based methods, Finite Difference Time and Frequency Domain methods, or similar)
  • Software: MATLAB, Python, Fortran, or similar
  • Control Theory – advantage
  • Radar/Sonar simulation – advantage

 

Required Education:

 

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or Physics.

About the position: 

We look for candidates of diverse scientific backgrounds and skills, including:

1. Design and analysis of wave propagation in acoustic/elastic periodic structures, lattices, metamaterials, and metasurfaces.

2. Design of electric circuit networks.

3. Control of distributed-parameter systems/partial differential equations.

4. Analysis of topological wave phenomena in Condensed-Matter Physics.

5. Dynamical simulations programming of multiple-degree-of-freedom systems, controlled in closed-loop, in Matlab, or similar software.

6. Construction of Finite Element simulations of acoustic waveguiding systems.
