Requesting Dormitory Housing

 

To be considered for Broshim dormitory housing, you are invited to join the waiting list. Please email the housing coordinator at housing@tauex.tau.ac.il and attach your acceptance letter to your email; the housing coordinator will send you the link to join the list.  

When completing the waiting list form, please provide as many details as possible, including listing all people who will live in the apartment. If your partner will be joining you in the future, you need to request a couple’s apartment, even if you will be by yourself for the first months. When signing a contract, it will not be possible to switch to a different type of apartment for the period of the contract.

Due to high demand, the waiting time for a long-term contract might take a few months. Those planning to arrive in Israel without confirmed housing are advised to search for off-campus housing alternatives for the first period of their stay.

 

 

Start and End Dates

 

Dorm contracts offered to international researchers are for one full year from October 1st until September 30th the following year.

NOTE: There is no option to apply for a shorter contract.

 

 

Contract Renewals

 

There is a limit on the number of consecutive contracts for dormitory housing, as follows:

  • MSc students are allowed to live in TAU dorms for a maximum of two contract periods.
  • PhD students are allowed to live in TAU dorms for a maximum of four contract periods. If a finishing MSc is immediately accepted as a PhD candidate, they may stay for a total of five years; meaning that, as a PhD student, they will only have three years left in the dorms.
  • Post-docs are allowed to live in TAU dorms for a maximum of three contract periods. Automatic eligibility for contract renewal is for two contract periods; however, if the position is extended (approved by a formal letter), the post-doc will be eligible for one more contract period.
  • Visiting researchers (students/ fellows) are allowed to live in TAU dorms for a maximum of one contract period and are not eligible for continuous renewal.

 

 

About Pricing

 

All prices listed below are per month and are in ILS; they are linked to the Israeli consumer price index.  Fees include Wi-Fi and cable TV.

Fees do not include: municipal tax (contingent on the size of the apartment and its surroundings; approximately 70-202 ILS per month); the electricity bill (subject to apartment usage); and the water bill (subject to apartment usage).

 

IMPORTANT: To secure the apartment, the student will have to pay a deposit payment of 4,000 ILS (at the sole discretion of dormitory management, this fee is returned after departure if no damage was found to the apartment).
