Note: The information below is relevant for Summer 2023 program students for the following programs:

  • Arrival Date: Each arrival date is listed for each program on the webpage however, for assistance, we have also listed it below. Note that housing check in (for on campus housing) will be a self-check in. The student life team will provide the details about 2-3 days prior to arrival so you know which building and housing complex you are in, and they will advise how to retrieve your key.

Study Abroad Programs Arrival Information: Fall/Year 2023 students

 

We are so excited to see you on campus this August! Below you will find some general information about your arrival and pre-arrival details. 

  • Prior to arrival: Prior to your arrival on campus, here is what you should know/have: 
    • You should be confirmed in the portal: This means that you have completed the confirmation form and paid the confirmation fee
    • 6-7 weeks prior to arrival, a placement test will be sent to you by TAUI Academic, for the pre-term ulpan. You will have 2 days to complete the test and send it back. You are not graded on this test, and you must complete this alone to the best of your ability. It is for us to see where you should be placed in the August ulpan.
    • 1 month prior to arrival, housing will email you to let you know that you have been placed in on campus housing. While we do not provide details on the exact placement (room #, roommate), you will be confirmed of your housing placement
    • 1 month prior to arrival, you will be sent an email with details on how to receive your TAU login/password (a pin # and student ID # will be sent to you). You should follow the process and contact the help desk if you have any questions
    • 2 weeks prior to arrival, the student life team will send you an email to welcome you to campus and will provide details on orientation and the first student life activities 
    • 3 days to 1 week prior to arrival, a final email will come from the student life team with details on how to get to campus from the airport and details on the check in procedure upon arrival
  • Upon arrival: 
    • Now you are at the airport, you can follow the steps to get to campus from the email you received this week from Student Life. You can get to campus by train, bus or taxi. The email will have the address of the housing complex where you are staying
    • Upon arrival, student life will greet you with a check in process and provide you with your key and direct you to your room. Welcome to TAU campus:) 
    • Now you can settle in. If you are in Einstein dorms, when you walk out, you will have campus across the street but if you turn left and walk down the street a few minutes you will find: a convenience store, a supermarket, and a mall. For more details on the housing, you may click HERE
    • Sometimes, Student Life will organize an activity the day of arrival. These details will be sent to you in the last emails so you can sign up. Otherwise, enjoy the rest day as tomorrow is orientation!
    • If you are coming outside of the check in hours, you must contact Student Life, 1 week prior to arrival and let them know so they can plan a check in process for you. madrichimosp@tauex.tau.ac.il
  • Orientation: Today is orientation day (orientation day is always the day after arrival day). Here is an example of a schedule that is often used for orientation. Final schedule will be emailed to you 1-2 weeks prior to arrival but this is a general overview: 
    • Campus tour, generally starts at 9AM at Einstein housing complex
    • Light refreshments after campus tour, around 9:45-10AM
    • 10:15AM-12PM: Orientation with the Student Life team members, study abroad team members and discussing: Housing, rules/regulations, safety and security in Israel, activities and on campus services
    • The rest of the afternoon is free for students to complete their housing chip (needed to get into the dorms-details will be reviewed at orientation), or there are sometimes student life activities that same day. A detailed schedule will be provided to you or listed HERE
  • Pre-term Ulpan: Generally starts the day after orientation day. If orientation day is on a Thursday, the pre-term ulpan will start on Sunday. Details on placement and classes will be sent 1 month prior to arrival, via email, to the student directly. The email will include: 
    • The placement 
    • The teacher's name
    • The book that will be used in the classroom
    • The classroom where the class will meet
    • Rules/regulations of the program
    • start/end dates
    • Where you can purchase the book (on campus, at the on campus bookstore under the physics/chemistry building)

  • Academic Orientation: Always scheduled while the students are in Ulpan (after Ulpan classes). Fall Academic Orientation will take place on September 5, 2023 at 1:30PM. Classroom TBA. Details will be sent via email to all study abroad students only. 
  • Registration to courses: This is generally done during the August ulpan. An email will be sent from the TAUI Academic's team, to explain the process to register for courses. Students have to fill out a form and provide the details of the courses they are interested in. For details on our courses, you can click HERE.
