What does my semester look like?

1.  Pre-Term Ulpan:

Your study abroad semester or year begins with a mandatory (pre-term) Hebrew Ulpan. We want to know that you can immerse yourself in the culture and life while in Israel. If you are a complete beginner, you will learn the alphabet and some essential Hebrew vocabulary. If you are more advanced, we will focus on grammar and more key vocabulary so you can adjust to your semester. We include fun activities on campus, field trips, and even movies within the classroom! For more details on our Hebrew classes and Ulpans, you can check out our website

*If you feel that your level of Hebrew is high, please contact OUR TEAM to take the exemption exam. Exemption exams are given only to students who have been accepted to the program.

2. Semester Break:

In the upcoming Fall Semester, there will be a fall break from October 1 to October 14, 2025. For the full academic calendar, please go HERE.

3. Semester Program:

All students have to take 4 courses taught in English, which can be chosen from our rich and diverse course schedule. Students can also participate in for-credit Service Learning experiences to immerse further into community life here in Tel Aviv and Israel.

Hebrew is also taught in the semester, so study abroad students are allowed to take another Hebrew course as one of the four courses to be taken. During the semester and pre-term Hebrew Ulpan, the Lowy International community leaders organize a variety of activities for any student to participate in (on/off campus) including day and overnight trips.

Are there activities that I can join? How can I make friends?

There are regular activities on- and off-campus offered through our Community Leaders and the Buddy Program. Join our guided tours, parties, and other events to meet new friends and have lots of fun. Check the weekly updates for information on upcoming events.

If I have more questions, how can I proceed?

Do not hesitate to email our team if you have any questions about the above or any questions that our website does not address. We are in the offices Sunday through Thursday (excluding holidays) and quickly respond to emails.

I'm excited, how can I move forward?

Go to the next tab, "Admission requirements" to follow the steps on how to apply. We can't wait to see you on campus!
