2019 Summer Program Overview – Applications Opening Soon!

Students enrolling in this summer program will have the chance to examine the Middle East from an insider’s perspective and gain a nuanced understanding of the key current affairs as well as the important transformations taking place in the region. All courses offer one day-long course excursion to compliment the in-class coursework. Students can choose to take two of the following three courses:

  • Tel Aviv-Jaffa: Urbanization and Urban Culture – Dr. Eran Eldar (3 credits)
  • Arab and Israelis: Conflict and Conflict Resolution in the Middle East – Dr. Chelsea Mueller (3 Credits)
  • Islam Politics and Terror in the Middle East – Dr. Meir Litvak (3 credits)

It is possible for students to take up to three courses within this program. Alternatively, it may be possible for students to take either Beginners Hebrew, Arabic I, or Spoken Arabic I as one course, and then choose another course from the list above. Students may also wish to stay after the program to enroll in additional Hebrew language courses which continue later into the summer. Additional fees would apply for all of these options listed. If interested in these options, please see application specifics.

In addition to coursework, cultural evening activities and overnight excursions around the country are offered by our Student Life Team; these activities and excursions are included in the price of tuition. Past excursions have included such places as to the North of Israel, the Dead Sea and Jerusalem. Past evening activities have included walking tours of Jaffa, graffiti tours in Tel Aviv, and night tours of Caesaria. Precise dates, times and other details for these activities and excursions will be announced closer to the program start date.
