Safety and Security

The safety of our students is our highest priority. Like all public institutions in Israel, Tel Aviv University employs a network of security personnel covering all campus entrances and patrolling throughout the campus and dormitory complex 24 hours a day. Additionally, students should be prepared to show student cards or another picture ID and submit bags for searches.

The University's Security Department maintains close contact with government security agencies. The overseas student population is regularly updated regarding security matters and receives copies of all relevant official communications. Specific security information will be given at the student orientation.

Additionally, as in all foreign travel, visitors are advised to register with the local Embassy. This can be done either in person, or in the case of US citizens online at: https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/.
Finally, during orientation and periodically throughout the semester security officers will be briefing students on safety issues and updates.

If necessary, Tel Aviv University has outstanding evacuation arrangements with other institutions throughout Israel. Specific information on such arrangements can be obtained from our offices.

The International school also requires all students to carry a mobile telephone with an Israeli number for periodical and emergency test messaging.
Students may obtain a rent free phone provided by a TAU partner, IsraelPhones. This allows our staff to contact all program participants at any time via SMS text messages or group messaging.
If you have been admitted to TAU International's program but have not signed up for your phone yet, please log on to: http://www.israelphones.com/tau.htm.
